I dont want to discourage anyone, and you really need to practice singing and playing ALOT. This will not happen overnight. However…. there absolutely are people that can not do both. Some simply are not bi-rythmic. Church was mentioned and it’s a perfect place to see this type of person. You know the one. The person who sings along with all the songs perfectly fine…but is clapping so ridiculously off beat that it’s funny. Sadly this person is never, ever going to pull both off at the same time. God has not blessed that individual to do both. No amount of practice is going to help them lol. I do not say say this to discourage anyone. I say this because these people will practice this so much and get nowhere with and keep practicing and practicing and practicing. They’ll eventually get to a point where they end up taking away from doing anything productive overall. And that’s not good at all. Give it your best shot but know when to call it quits. The last thing you wanna do is take away any productivity. If you’ve practiced alot for a solid year and noticed no real progress at all…its probably time to change the game plan. But do not give up too quickly. Like they said it takes ALOT of practice

Thank you Nate and Chelsea for this tutorial. I thought that the hardest part was learning how to play the guitar and somehow you just blend it with singing. But I have come to learn that it is a skill that needs to be worked on and developed intentionally 😅 So the lesson really helped tons 🙌🏿

How do you know when to change chords while playing and singing? Do we have memorize every word of an entire song where chord shifting takes place? Sometimes I also have problem with when to start singing while I’m strumming? It’s effing confusing 😞 Please help.

I’ve always been baffled how Chris Hannah of Propagandhi plays the intricate riffs and sings their clever and intricate arrangements. It’s hard to even sing along to some of their stuff. I can’t comprehend that? I can barely strum and hold a tune on my guitar. The second I go to sing everything turns to shit 😂🤣😂

Super cool lesson thank you so much ! Now next step is how to apply proper vocal technique (breath support, open throat etc) while playing guitare… How to avoid my vocal technique to simply move from a intermediate level singer with band/backing track down to a total beginner with instrument in hand… Up for a lesson about this ? 🙂

I’ve been playing and singing solo quite a few years now. It is difficult, way more difficult than people give it credit for. So for those of you that are just learning don’t let anybody discourage your process.
